Overview: The Helium Analysis Lab (HAL) focuses on the measurement of U, Th, and He in a variety of minerals to address questions related to tectonics and thermochronology.

Instrumentation:

  • Noble gas measurement and extraction line equipped with a diode laser microfurnace, cyrogenic trap, PrismaPlus QMG 220, Pychron software
  • Nikon SMZ-18 stereo microscope
  • A full array of spikes, PTFE labware and digestion vessels for mineral dissolution and U, Th, and Sm measurement
