Recent assessments of employment prospects for college graduates have ranked Geoscience very highly.  An analysis of data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey by the web site 24/7 Wall St. identified college majors with the lowest unemployment rates. Geoscience ranked as the third best on their list, with an unemployment rate of 0.96% and an average salary of $79,851.  Also, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook estimates job growth for Geoscientists in the next several years as faster than average
